Before You Apply
Desperation is not a flaw. It’s a warning light.
Every scam, shady gig, and MLM knows this—and they prey on it. Take two minutes. Protect your time, your money, and your sanity.
The Desperation Test
If you had $500 in your pocket right now, would you still apply for this job?
If not, it’s probably not a job. It’s a panic decision waiting to backfire.
Script or Job?
- If it promises “limitless income” but no pay structure—run.
- If you hear more about their lifestyle than the work itself—run.
- If it’s “commission only” but offers no leads or training—run faster.
Payment Red Flags
- “Just pay for a background check and we’ll call you.”
- “Buy your starter kit now—training is next week.”
- “Use your own account and we’ll reimburse you later.”
You’re the revenue stream, not the employee.
False Promises to Spot
- “We’re like a family” = They want free overtime.
- “This opportunity won’t last” = They need you to act before you think.
- “Be your own boss” = They don’t want to train or support you.
Reality Anchors
- Real jobs don’t ghost after interviews.
- Real companies tell you what the job actually is.
- Real income doesn’t come from referrals alone.
- If it’s a secret until orientation—it’s not a job, it’s a funnel.
Pro-Tip: Interview Yourself Too
Create a pre-interview checklist:
- Ask one question unrelated to pay or schedule—like company culture, tools they use, or client types.
- Notice their reaction. If they sound surprised, they didn’t expect you to be thinking.
Even if you fake it, you learn. You’ll recognize what resonates—and what doesn’t.
